Mariarosaria Stigliano

After graduating in law at La Sapienza University in Rome, she decided to devote herself to art studies and obtained a second degree in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and the qualification to teach painting disciplines. Interested in the transience of the human figure in urban contexts, industrial wrecks and room interiors, she develops a personal painting technique in which the surface is scratched by a combination of graphite, oil and industrial enamels. Her images, immersed in restless and vibrant atmospheres, capture the eye and remain suspended in alienating frames somewhere between dream and wakefulness. Her works have been exhibited at prestigious collective events: the Ramat Gan Art Museum in Tel Aviv in Israel, the Museums of San Salvatore in Lauro in Rome, the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice, the Venanzo Crocetti Museum in Rome and the MLAC (Museum Laboratory of Contemporary Art) at La Sapienza University in Rome. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in important exhibition spaces, including the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogotà in Colombia, the Italian Cultural Institute in Wolfsburg in Germany, the Aragonese Castle in Taranto and the Neuhaus Castle in Wolfsburg. She was among the first 10 Italian artists invited to China (Hangzhou) for the project ‘Following the path of Marco Polo’ and has participated in several painting symposia in Germany where she frequently returns.
